Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland)

This rōpū, started in 1995, currently has 32 members. Many of these members have been part of the  former Auckland rōpū for many years. A number of members have been elected on to the executive of the national body over the years. Although Covid-19 has impacted face to face meetings, the group set up Zoom in 2020 and successfully continues to offer online professional development and learning  during 2020 and 2021, and into 2022. We have  sadly lost a life member and an honorary member over the last few years, but two other  life members (Robin Houlker and Hilary Alach - both past National Presidents) continue to support the rōpū at meetings and through professional development. Currently three Tāmaki  Makaurau/Auckland members are National President, Secretary and Treasurer of OMEP Aotearoa NZ.  A small, but strong ,group of Auckland members continues to be active in submissions to the government and attendance at the meetings of key ECE organisations  (e.g. the Early Education Federation , Tick for Kids, CRAANZ, CPAG, IPA).
